Summer is here! (…well on some days, anyway!) For many of us that means the holidays are just around the corner. We may not be able to go away this year, but we’re lucky to live where we do, so join me and explore and enjoy Porthcawl with “holiday eyes”.
Once again, the magazine is packed with interesting articles and jolly chatter. In our usual round up of Parish news the joy of singing is a prominent theme, as well as the anticipation of coffee and chat in the not-too-distant future. Fr Geoff also picks up on music as he reminisces on the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, whilst Fr Mark gives us food-for-thought as he acquaints us with the “golden joinery”. We get a glance too at the Parish finances for the last year – and how we’ve risen to the most challenging of times.
There are also a couple of contributions to give you a little giggle – thanks to John Berry and his canine mechanic and Pam Jones’s handbag! (Pam, you’re a lady after my own heart – one day, I too, will use an elegant, little handbag!!) And, as well as the crossword, there’s a Spot the Bird quiz to keep you entertained.
I hope you are able to take some time for yourself over the summer. Stop. Take a breath. Relax. You may choose to sit quietly somewhere or do as I do and indulge in some people-watching! However you do it, enjoy the world around you and I’ll see you in the September issue.
All contributions for the September issue to me by 25 August, please.
Stay safe, keep smiling and have a super summer!
