May 10th : Easter 5

Almighty God,
who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ
have overcome death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life:
grant that, as by your grace going before us
you put into our minds good desires,
so by your continual help we may bring them to good effect;
through Jesus Christ our risen Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Acts 7. 55-60 – the martyrdom of Stephen
Psalm 31 – into your hands I commend my spirit
1 Peter 2.2-10 – you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood
John 14. 1-14 – Jesus Christ, our way, our truth, our life

 May 17th: Easter 6

God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.   Amen

Acts 17. 22-31 – Paul in Athens; we are all God’s offspring
Psalm 66. 8-20 – God who holds our souls in life will not let us slip
1 Peter 3. 13-22 – in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ
to have ascended into the heavens, so we in heart and mind may also ascend and with him continually dwell;

Daniel 7. 9-14 – to him was given dominion and glory and kingship

Acts 1. 1-11 – as they were watching he was lifted up
Luke24. 44-53 – the Ascension; and they were filled with great joy

May 24th: Easter 7

O God the King of glory,
you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ
with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,
but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us
and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ is gone before,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Acts 1. 6-14  – you will be witnesses to the ends of the earth
Psalm 68. 1-10 – how wonderful is God in his holy place
1 Peter 4. 12-14, 5. 6-11 – the God of grace will support and strengthen us
John 17. 1-11 – ‘Father glorify your Son-   and protect my people in your name’


God, who at this time
taught the hearts of your faithful people
by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit:
grant us by the same Spirit  to have right judgement in all things
and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;
through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour,
who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.   Amen

Acts 2. 1-21 – the coming of the Holy Spirit
Psalm 104. 24-36 – the Spirit renews the earth
1 Corinthians 12. 3b-13 – there a varieties of gifts but the same spirit
John 20. 19-23 – Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to the disciples

June 7th: Trinity Sunday

Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given us your servants grace,
by the confession of a true faith,
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity
and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity:
keep us steadfast in this faith
that we may evermore be defended from all adversities;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Isaiah 40. 12-17, 27-31 – the Lord is the everlasting God
Psalm 8  – O Lord our governor, how exalted is your name!
2 Corinthians 13. 11-13 – the Grace of the lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you
Matthew 28. 16-20 – Go and make disciples of all nations

June 14th: Pentecost 2

God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you,
mercifully accept our prayers and,
because through the weakness of our mortal nature
we can do no good thing without you,
grant us the help of your grace,
that in the keeping of your commandments
we may please you both in will and deed;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Exodus 19. 2-8a – ‘Everything that the Lord has spoken we will do’
Psalm 100 – The Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting
Romans 5. 1-18 – God proves his love in that while we were still sinners Christ dies for us
Matthew 9.35 – 10.8 – Go and proclaim the good news

June 21st: Pentecost 3

Lord, you have taught us
that all our doings without love are nothing worth:
send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts
that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace
and of all virtues,
without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.
Grant this through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Jeremiah 20. 7-13 – the Lord delivers the needy from evildoers
Psalm 69. 8-19 – answer me, Lord, for your love is kind
Romans 6. 1-11 – you must consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus
Matthew 10. 24-39 – those who lose their life for my sake will find it

June 28th: Pentecost 4

Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin
and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts
whereby we call you Father:
give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service,
that we and all creation may be brought
to the glorious liberty of the children of God;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Jeremiah 28. 5-9 – the prophet is trustworthy only if his teaching comes true
Psalm 89. 8-16 – we walk in the Lord’s presence
Romans 6. 12-23 – the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord
Matthew 10. 40-42 – He who receives me receives the one who sent me
